Preparing for your spray tan...

  •  Manicures, pedicures, facials, massages, waxing and hair appointments should be done THE DAY BEFORE your tanning appointment.
  • Exfoliating  is the most IMPORTANT step to a successful spray tan. Exfoliate your skin with a  washcloth or exfoliating glove.
  • DO NOT USE SOAP TO EXFOLIATE AND DO NOT USE A LOOFAH! Loofah's exfoliate unevenly and will cause streaks as your tan fades.
  • Shave or wax at least 8 hours prior to your appointment, if possible. Shaving after your appointment will cause your skin to exfoliate and shorten the life of your spray tan. Shaving shortly before your tan can cause your pores to open and may leave your legs looking "freckled" after your tanning session.
  • Skin should be clean before your tanning session. Do not use lotion, moisturizers, oils, deodorant, perfume, cologne, or makeup,....anything that can block the absorption of your tan. For dry skin, you may use a moisturizer up to four hours prior to your session.
  • Do not use Dove soap or anti-bacterial soaps as they will leave a barrier on your skin and can block the absorption of the tanning solution.
  • Wear dark, loose fitting clothing to your appointment. Flip flops are perfect! Should the solution get on your clothes, it will wash out of most fabrics EXCEPT FOR lycra/spandex materials. Plan to wear these clothes for the next few hours after your appointment.
  • Chance for rain? Make sure to bring an umbrella, wear long sleeves, long pants and lace up shoes with socks. Rain is not nice to fresh sunless tans.
  • Ladies: You may undress to your comfort level for your appointment. If wearing undergarments or a swimsuit, make sure they are dark colored to ensure they won't stain. Also, if your hair is long enough to put up in a pony tail please do so. I do provide hair nets as well.
  • Gentlemen:  Undergarments MUST be worn (underwear, boxers or swim trunks).

         After your tan...

  • Continue wearing your dark, loose fitting clothing for at least 6-8 hours while your tan develops.
  • Do not get wet for at least 8 hours with a regular solution. This includes showers, exercise, swimming, saunas or any other activities that may get your skin wet or cause you to sweat. Also, do not wear tight fitting shoes, bras, or sports bras, jeans during this time.
  • When showering, only use your hands and warm water. DO NOT USE soap or shower gel, you only want to rinse the bronzer off. Your second shower use a sulfate-free body wash or all natural soap for washing.  Stay away from Dove, Zest, Irish Spring or antibacterial soaps. While hot showers feel great...try to use cooler water as you will have less exfoliation.  Remember to pat dry DO NOT RUB!
  • Water is a natural exfoliant so try to limit your time when swimming and avoid soaking for long periods as this will dramatically fade your tan.
  • Most important MOISTURIZE!!! MOISTURIZE using an alcohol-free moisturizer at least twice a day and especially after each shower.  Your hands and face will usually lose color first due to the consistent  washing and makeup removal. You may purchase a bronzing rejuvenator body cream from me, it is a tan extender and will help with the color, longevity and fade of your tan and is also a fabulous moisturizer.
  • If you plan to go out in the sun wear sunscreen as a spray tan does not protect you from the sun's rays. (Coppertone Sport and Neutrogena are good choices). If using a spray sunscreen, do not rub it in.

            Express Tan Details...

  • Express Tan solutions contain a high concentration of DHA (active ingredient in all self-tanning products) allowing you to shower the solution off in anywhere from 2-5 hours versus the standard 8 plus hours required with original solutions. Time before rinsing?  Depends or your desired outcome.
  • DO NOT USE SOAP OR SHOWER GEL FOR YOUR FIRST SHOWER! Just rinse off the bronzer and let the DHA continue to develop

I don't recommend a tan more than a few shades darker than your current skin tone. This where I come in! I will mix the right solution choice for you so that you will  have  a beautiful natural looking tan.  The further you are from your natural color....the worse your fade will be. Remember that the top layer of skin that is tanned is going to slough off eventually and not at the same rate all over your body.
